NEW YORK -- Following a Draft Day protest about the business practices of Jacksonville Jaguars’ owner Shahid Khan, workers from his company and residents who live near one of his plants delivered a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell at the league’s Manhattan headquarters. The letter asks Goodell to investigate allegations related to Khan’s business practices and determine whether the billionaire’s conduct is detrimental to the welfare of the league or professional football.

UAW activists to join coalition in Troy against attacks on working-class families

TROY, Mich. -- UAW members, leaders and other activists will join a broad community coalition in a peaceful protest against continued attacks on working-class families and to oppose Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's appearance at a fund raiser hosted by Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder at the San Marino Club here on April 17.

The demonstration is targeted at the governors' shared agenda of cutting taxes on the wealthy while shifting the tax burden to the middle-class workers, as well as slashing social services for the poor and stripping voters of their rights.

UAW members at Columbia and Teacher’s College ratify new agreements

NEW YORK -- UAW members of Local 2110 at Columbia University in New York have overwhelmingly ratified a new three-year contract that covers about 700 office and administrative staff.

The workers, who were organizing for a strike, reached a tentative agreement with the university on March 30. The university support staff voted 96 percent in favor of the new contract.

UAW members at Colt Mfg. ratify new agreement

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- UAW Local 376 members at Colt Mfg. have overwhelmingly ratified a new two-year agreement that will give them wage increases and protect them against jobs being subcontracted out.

The agreement covers 376 members of the amalgamated local. About one-third of the workers produce handguns, and the remainder are employed to manufacture rifles and machine guns for military use.
